Institution for Savings

As a mutual savings bank, the Institution for Savings recognizes a deep commitment to its community and believes in dedicating part of its assets toward making the Greater Newburyport area a better place to live and work. The Charitable Foundation was established in 1997 by former President Donald Mitchell as a way to guarantee for future generations the charitable giving that has been the bank's hallmark since 1820.

The Institution for Savings charitable Foundation provides a vehicle to share the bank's success with the community that is responsible for that success. Through the Grants Committee, the Institution for Savings Charitable Foundation awards funds to area organizations designated as charities under IRS section 501 (c) (3). The Grants Committee meets on the third Monday of March, June, September, and December.
